Our Impact
Amazon has more than 1.5 million employees globally. Since 2011, Amazon has invested more than AUD $15 billion in Australia across all of its businesses in Australia. Amazon Australia continues to expand its Australian workforce with more than 7,000 employees nationwide, while also investing in the communities where our employees live and work.
-
Since Amazon.com.au launched in December 2017, we have grown our product selection to offer customers more than 200 million products across 31 categories with the selection continuing to grow. Amazon has empowered more than 14,000 Australian businesses, many of which are small and medium businesses, to reach customers around Australia and globally.
-
Amazon started as a bookstore, and taking care of authors is at the heart of our company. We’re committed to supporting independent authors by helping them find readers and grow their revenues with services like Kindle Direct Publishing.
-
Amazon Web Services has hundreds of thousands of active customers using local AWS infrastructure each month, and every day we are inspired by the hard work and innovation of our customers and partners, and the positive impact they are making globally.
-
We believe all children and young adults should have the resources and skills to build their best future. We also believe we need to play our part to ensure our communities are ready to transition to jobs in the future economy.
-
Amazon is driven by the belief that no family should go without basic needs like food and housing. We've long partnered with organisations that share our commitment to helping those in need.
-
Amazon’s disaster relief efforts utilise our global logistics capabilities to provide the fastest, most effective aid. These strengths enable us to ship Amazon-donated items, and items donated by partners, to communities as soon as possible after a natural disaster.
We value the opportunity to be a force for good in the lives of our customers and in communities around the world.
Our investments go far beyond creating jobs in communities and empowering small and medium businesses as they grow through selling in Amazon’s Store. We expand access to skill building for in-demand fields and work on urgent needs—from the nonprofits we support that help families in their journeys out of homelessness to the way we provide disaster relief to those in need.
Building more resilient communities
It is important we work alongside our customers and partners to help people respond to crises, and to develop solutions that will help reduce the impact of disasters.
