Amazon's partner in this project, The Australian Literacy and Numeracy Foundation (ALNF), is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to raising language, literacy, and numeracy standards in Australia with a number of innovative projects supporting families and communities across the nation.

ALNF Co-founder and Executive Director, Kim Kelly, said “ALNF exists to help these people by improving literacy and numeracy levels in Australia’s most-marginalised communities. Many kids don’t have access to the resources they need to help them develop critical numeracy skills, causing them to fall behind at school.”

“Amazon has a global commitment to support disadvantaged students to succeed at school,” said Matt Furlong, country manager of Amazon Australia. “We are committed to helping more young people and families from underserved and underrepresented communities gain the resources and skills they need to build their best future.”

Earlier this year we teamed up with Vinnies to provide 1000 families from disadvantaged communities with resources they needed to go back to school. The STEM Toy Donation comes as we launch our new STEM Toy Store on Amazon.com.au, a storefront designed to make it easier for busy parents to find educational science, technology, engineering and mathematics-based toys for their kids.

“We hope this donation will help the students at Campbellfield Public School in developing these important STEM skills for the future,” Furlong said.

Amazon has partnered with the Australian Toys Association to ensure customers can shop educational toys with confidence, from early stage development brands such as Modern Brands & OSMO, through to higher education from Sphero & Educational Insights. Find out more here.

About Amazon in the Community

Amazon is committed to helping more young people and families from under-served and under-represented communities gain the resources and skills they need to build their best future. Our support ranges from innovative programs that reduce homelessness and combat hunger, to a commitment to STEM and computer science education and disaster relief.

Some of the ways Amazon is supporting communities around the world are: Making sure more young people learn about STEM and computer science through Amazon Future Engineer; addressing “Right Now Needs” to help ensure students’ basic needs are met in order for them to be successful at school; and supporting global communities following natural disasters.
