Following Prime Video’s launch in New Zealand in 2016, we have continued to invest heavily in expanding the range of hit movies, great shows, award-winning Amazon Originals, and live sports, that we offer —all in a single destination. This includes tripling the number of Amazon Originals, which today includes hit shows and movies like Reacher, The Summer I Turned Pretty, The Boys, Fallout, The Idea of You, Road House and Clarkson’s Farm, and licensing exclusive titles like Taylor Sheridan’s Lioness season one and two. In 2025, we will present exclusive global coverage of 66 regular-season NBA games including an opening week doubleheader, a new Black Friday NBA game, and all games from the Knockout Rounds of the Emirates NBA Cup, including the in-season tournament’s Semifinals and Finals.
To continue investing in compelling content and keep increasing that investment over a long period of time, starting in 2025, Prime Video shows and movies will include limited advertisements in New Zealand. We aim to have meaningfully fewer ads than linear TV and other streaming TV providers. No action is required for Prime Video members. We will also offer a new ad-free option and will share the price of that option at a later date. We will email Prime Video members several weeks before ads are introduced into Prime Video with information on how to sign up for the ad-free option if they would like.
* Live event content such as sports will continue to include advertising.
