Amazon Australia today unveiled the opening of its $90 million Fulfilment Centre (FC) in Western Sydney’s Horsley Park with Chris Bowen, Minister for Climate Change and Energy of Australia, cutting the ribbon to open the new facility, marking the opening of one of two new FCs in Horsley Park by early 2026.
Once fully operational, the new fulfilment centre will offer over 360 local jobs, with a diverse range of opportunities in a high-tech, industry-leading workplace ranging from IT, HR and technology professionals, to associates who will pick, pack and ship items to customers. This site offers training and certification programs for operating forklifts. The majority of jobs will be permanent full-time roles, with leading pay and comprehensive benefits such as subsidised private healthcare and up to 20 weeks of maternity pay.
Sandra McNeil, Amazon Australia Director of Operations says, “We’re thrilled to announce the opening of our new fulfilment centre in Horsley Park, expanding our operational footprint and providing quality job opportunities in Western Sydney. We are proud to provide more than 360 local job opportunities and look forward to our continued efforts with the Government, to continue expanding our investment in Western Sydney.”
The state-of-the-art facility in Horsley Park is a fit out of an existing site, spanning more than 30,000 square metres – equivalent to around 4.5 rugby league fields. The FC will have the capacity to hold up to 600,000 larger items sold on the Amazon.com.au store, including garden equipment and furniture. This will expand the capacity available to the Australian sellers who use Fulfilment by Amazon, enabling those with larger items to more seamlessly service customers around the country.
The fulfilment centre will be equipped with advanced technology to assist Amazon’s team as they pick and pack items, serving Australian shoppers on Amazon.com.au - contributing to the company’s efforts to deliver a smarter, faster and more consistent experience for customers in Sydney around Australia.
The fulfilment centre also features sustainable design elements, such as powered industrial trucks using lithium batteries, a 200KW solar array on the roof, rapid rollers at all dock doors and insulation to maintain internal temperatures and reduce energy consumption. The site also includes motion-sensor lighting, further contributing to Amazon’s energy efficiency efforts.
