The sale, exclusive to Prime members, was Australia’s longest yet, running for 6 full days from 00:01 AM on Tuesday 16 July. Globally, Prime Day 2024 was Amazon’s biggest Prime Day shopping event to-date, with record sales and more items sold than any previous Prime Day events. In Australia, Day 1 of the Prime Day event was the single biggest day of sales in Amazon.com.au history, as Prime members bagged bargains across all categories, including home and kitchen appliances, electronics, fashion, beauty, books, toys and more, as well as everyday essentials and household staples.

Do you have Amazon boxes piling up from the Prime Day sale? Here are a few ideas for putting that cardboard to good use.

While Christmas may be months away, many cost-conscious Aussies reported taking advantage of sales like Prime Day to purchase their holiday shopping earlier than ever, to find savings and distribute spending. Research commissioned by Amazon Australia revealed more than 70% of people who would be buying Christmas presents would do so in July if substantial discounts were offered.

Arno Lenior, Director of Prime for Amazon Australia said, “We have been thrilled to see how Australian Prime members have responded to our longest Prime Day yet. Over a full six days, Aussies saved millions of dollars, at a time when household budgets are stretched and shoppers are looking for value above all else. Prime Day celebrates our members, our Aussie sellers and our much-appreciated employees and delivery partners. This shopping event brings to life the value of Prime, which also includes benefits like fast and free delivery on millions of items and a suite of entertainment options like Prime Video and Amazon Music."
