We hosted our first Australian Seller Summit at Jones Bay Wharf in Sydney on November 13th 2017. The event, organised in partnership with the Australian Retailers Association (ARA) and the SME Association of Australia (SMEA), was attended by hundreds of people who came to hear how businesses, big and small, could use Amazon Marketplace to grow.
Keynote presentations were made by our Country Manager, Rocco Braeuniger, and Head of Amazon Marketplace in Australia, Fabio Bertola, who gave attendees practical guidance on how to take their businesses to millions of customers across Australia and around the world via Amazon Marketplace.
“We held the Seller Summit to encourage and educate Australian businesses on how they can use Amazon Marketplace to take their products to a global audience,” said Rocco Braeuniger, Australian Country Manager, Amazon. “With more than half of units sold globally coming from Marketplace sellers, we know that customers love the unique selection that they bring. We are excited to work with many thousands of Australian businesses to help them reach more than 300 million customers around the world and to grow their business.”
Successful Australian businesses including baby brand from Bondi, Hip Cub, also took to the stage to provide firsthand insights on their own experiences selling on Amazon globally. Kevin Lippy, Founder, Hip Cub said, “With the access and reach of Amazon Marketplace, our Australian business has been able to enter a number of countries, including Canada and the UK, which we could have never done on our own. We hope today that we have demonstrated how simple it is to sell on Amazon and how beneficial it can be for a business.”
Speaking about the event Russel Zimmerman, Executive Director of the Australian Retailers Association said, “Today’s very practical advice and conversations have been extremely insightful for the retailers and businesses in attendance. Amazon’s entry into Australia provides a great opportunity for local retailers to grow their customer base and increase sales. I personally am excited to see how Australian businesses respond and succeed on the platform. It’s time to embrace change and get excited about the future.”
