Hear from three inspiring Amazonians who’ve grown their careers at Amazon in Australia.
Sergen, NSW, Air Operations Coordinator
Sergen began his career as a seasonal worker at Amazon Australia’s Robotics fulfilment Centre, filled with big dreams.
Thanks to onsite skills training, two years later he is overseeing end-to-end freight and aviation processes and spearheading new projects – making his passion in aviation his job, and giving him the opportunity to turn his dreams into reality.
Reflecting on his undertaking of a leadership training course, Sergen said, “Completing Amazon’s leadership training equipped me with the foundation and skills in order to become a better team leader.”
But it's not all work! Sergen’s made lifelong friends who love to play soccer together on the weekend.
Tanya, Senior HR Business Partner
After working most of her life as a chef, Tanya felt it was time for a career change.
She started as a packer at an Amazon Fulfilment Centre in Western Sydney and quickly discovered her passion for working with people.
Thanks to supportive managers, she was able to transition to a role in Human Relations (HR). Now, with five promotions over five years, Tanya has grown her career from seasonal packer to Senior HR Business Partner.
With a new work-life balance from her previous career, Tanya was even able to pick up beekeeping as a new hobby.
Of her experience at Amazon, Tanya says, “Amazon Australia doesn't just offer jobs, it offers opportunities for career growth.”
Allan, Area Manager
Allan started his career at Amazon in Australia as a solo engineer at Amazon Web Services. With on-the-job skills training and supportive managers, he’s been able to transition his skillset from solo engineer to Area Manager at a Fulfilment Centre.
Amazon supported his family’s choice to move interstate with a career transition from Melbourne to Brisbane.
But it's not just about work. Family is everything to Allan.
On his career at Amazon, Allan said, “Thanks to a variety of schedules, I get to be there to tuck my son in at night and drop him off at day care which means the world to me.”
